Birmingham Airport - How to Get There Birmingham Airport is ideally located in the centre of England and its motorway network and is approx. 8 miles east of Birmingham city centre. To get to the airport by road from the centre of Birmingham take the A45 east towards Coventry and then follow the signs. If travelling from the South or North of England take the M42 (this links to the M40 and M1 from London, M6 from Manchester and M5 from the South East). Then come off at junction 6 taking the A45 towards the city centre. The Airport is well signposted from here and the turn off is only 1 mile from the M42. Birmingham International Airport is also connected to Birmingham International Train Station and the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).There is a Skyrail that links the railway station to the airport. It runs approximately every two minutes from Birmingham International Train Station to Terminal 1 taking approximately 1 1/2 minutes. Birmingham International Train Station is situated on the West Coast Main Line, and trains are operated on this line by Virgin, Central, and Silverlink trains. Birmingham Airport Terminal Information There are now two terminals at Birmingham. Terminal 1, known as the Main Terminal handles all charter and all scheduled flights except for British Airways, Alitalia, Air France, KLM, Eastern, Swiss and SN Brussels who operate from Terminal 2, known as the Eurohub. Both terminals offer all the usual airport facilities, including shops, bars and restaurants, foreign currency, car hire desks and airport lounges including the new Executive lounge in the Eurohub terminal. If you like to view the planes before your flight then there is a viewing area in the Main terminal. Admission is free if you have a boarding card and here you can view all thelandings and take offs made from the main runway. Birmingham Airport Hotels with Parking Many hotels also offer airport parking as part of an inclusive package should you prefer to stay the night before your flight or the night of your return. Prices are often very similar to just parking alone and the hotels can provide transfers to the airport.
